Bottle Cage AirTag Mount

Description

6.82mm slim bottle cage AirTag mount. There are many models out there but I have never been satisfied with the thickness it adds to the bottle cage mount which doesn’t look great and makes the AirTag stand out. The other solution is mounting the AirTag elsewhere but the bottle cage area is nice because it requires some effort to remove.

I decided to design this slim mount which has a few compromises:

1. The AirTag is mounted without the battery cap. This is what allows this mount to be so thin. You will lose the water resistant rating on the AirTag. It is a tight pressure fit for the battery side so the AirTag/mount is still water resistant enough for riding in the rain, just don’t blast it with a pressure washer.
2. The top is exposed. This probably only shaves a fraction of a mm off the mount but you still get to see the cool etching you got if you ordered it from the Apple Store 😉 Some might think this makes the AirTag very obvious to thieves, but you can always flip it upside down. Also, if the thief actually sees the AirTag, it might actually have a deterrent effect.

Fits standard 64mm spaced bottle cage mounting holes.

Does not come with M5 bolts, you might need slightly longer ones if you are putting it under an existing bottle cage.

Also, I realized that technically you could make a mount with a lower profile by making wings on either end thinner and the centre bulge out more but that geometry would make printing a lot more difficult and there could be fit issues with certain bottle holders. This design should be universal.
